Hello, infinite blogosphere. This is me shouting into the black hole of the internet and straining to hear the echo.
To tell you a bit about myself, here is one of my all-time favorite bumper stickers:
It’s funny yet has a powerful message: that no one is inherently more important than another, and we each fill a specific role in the universe – like puzzle pieces. Leave out one piece, and the cute kitten is missing an eye.
Then there is one of my all-time favorite posters:
Which is on the other end of the spectrum. In our infinitely vast universe, we are tinsy tiny. Our amount of power nearly inconsequential.
Which leads me to this belief: In the vast universe we are so insignificant. But in daily life, it is ever so significant that we are.
Sit with that.
I also like to think about ants (as a commoner, I am not at all a scientist). I like to wonder at the things we have in common with them such as hierarchy and living in colonies, a.k.a. cities. It was recently reported on newscientist.com that ants show signs of being distinct individuals similar to how humans are unique individuals. And these individuals can affect colony-level decisions, by simply doing what they do.
And that’s where I come in. I am a writer and this blog is where I do what I do. Some of it will be great, lots of it will be crap and it’s all necessary for the process. Of course it is my great hope that my writing can positively affect others in large numbers over time, but my daily duty is to write.

Oh my gosh! I forgot that you used to write in high school. I think you were considering a journalism major right? Maybe you did get it. I don’t know. We lost touch for a long time before fb reconnected us.
I love hearing stories about raising kids. Most everyone does the best they can & when they know better, they do better. I never slept in front of my kids bedroom door. We just stacked a second gate on top. Good idea until she scaled both of them. Ugh. What I did was make our father for her to fall. That didn’t happen but could have. Maybe I should have slept on the floor! Either way, with guardian angels, they grew up and are not horrifically scared.
